Well after Scrabit.com got stolen from us, we decided to chin-up and hunt for a new name. After lot of struggling we have now settled on the name Scrawll.com. The credit goes to Anant, thanks dude! I will be registering the domain by tomorrow and this blog will also be moved there. Beta testing is already underway and Scrawll.com should be live very soon.
Why Scrawll.com
Scrawll originated from the two words scrap and wall. Scraps are public messages on Orkut and Wall posts are the same on Facebook. Also the name rhymes with crawl which is what this site will be doing. Crawling all over social networking sites and collecting bits and pieces.
Cheers!
Dont Steal. I’ll Kill you

I wasn’t really planning to make a post like this.. but well, after seeing a few ’scrawlls’ put up on the scrawll beta page, I was somehow forced to do this.
So, this goes out to all the Beta testers of Scrawll.. if there is some feature that you find missing [there are many], such that it is totally ‘disabling’, please post a comment. Please don’t post something like ‘Can you make the interface Web 2.0′ or something. If you do that, we shall consider that lame and do whatever we can to publicly bash you. This site was inspired by bash.org and we want to keep the interface similar for nostalgic effects.
Although your feature requests are welcome, I can’t guarantee that I’d be doing all of them [in fact I can’t guarantee that I’d be doing anyone of them].. but nonetheless, you can help scrawll be a better place. Some features already on the ‘TODO’ list are:
- A user page : Something like scrawll.com/user/rohan that would lead to a small page telling the no. of the things I voted on , submitted etc.
- A ‘forgot password’ page : People forget passwords, you know.
- A ‘change password’ page
Some features that shall never be on the TODO list are:
- A Web 2.0 interface
- An ‘ajaxified’ site: There is a lot more to good websites than ajax. For ex., Google. Live with that.
So go ahead, and make feature requests. I’ll try to implement as many as I can.

Social Networking has been the buzzword of this year. Major services such as Orkut.com and Facebook.com are generating enormous traffic and boast of an huge user base. What Next ?
Once you submit your quote(scrap, text, IM conversation, wall post etc..) it goes into our database. By default all scrabs are ranked in descending order of the time which they were posted(Newest First). There are two buttons besides each scrab. Cool and Lame. If you think that the scrab is lame(funny, hilarious or plain dumb) then click the Lame button to vote.
